When a baby named Haven grows up and is asked “Where were you born?” she’ll have a great story to tell.

And, given that one of her first birthday presents is one million frequent-flier points, she’ll likely be telling that story to her seatmates on an airplane.

According to Philippine low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific Air, a woman flying on Flight 5J015 from Dubai International Airport to Manila on Aug. 14 went into pre-term labor about four hours into the flight and delivered a baby girl onboard the aircraft.

Cabin crew — along with two registered nurses on the flight as passengers — assisted with the delivery, which the carrier says was the first time a baby has been delivered on one of its aircraft.

The flight diverted to Hyderabad, India, to make sure the mother and her baby could get medical assistance, as baby Haven was born premature at 32 weeks, said CEB president Lance Gokongwei in a statement and added, “We are happy that mother and daughter are doing well.”

Gokongwei also said that, as a birthday present, the airline would be giving Baby Haven one million of the airline’s “GetGo” reward program points. The points won’t have an expiration date and Baby Haven can share them with her family.

The airline made a birth announcement and posted a short video message about the birth-on-board on Facebook, and a passenger onboard the flight used Facebook to document the unusual in-flight activity.

“I saw flight attendants, who are meant to always maintain their poise and composure, panic ever so slightly,” wrote Missy Berberabe Umandal. “She was already crowning, so she was brought to the more spacious area in front of the plane. We only heard one semi-loud screech, and a few seconds later, there were tinier, cute screeches, and it was when we knew the baby was born. Moments later, the woman got up to go back to her seat, baby in arms.”

Had the most ‘NORMAL’ flight ever with Cebu Pacific Air. A woman near our seat gave birth to a healthy baby girl, on our flight from Dubai back to PH. We had to do an emergency landing in India to ensure the baby’s safety. All flight attendants, pilots, and passengers were very attentive too. Very lucky baby.. since she was born in a Cebu Pac plane, she is awarded 1,000,000 Get Go Points from the airline (STILL pretty much the equivalent of free flights for a lifetime, I mean she could be living in the plane if she wished). Congratulations to the first-time Mom and Grandma! This is something you don’t get to see everyday. It only happens in movies, and we’re lucky to witness this miracle.
