UFO, a trade union which represents Lufthansa cabin crew members, said the strike would start on Friday and run through to Nov. 13, should the carrier fail to accept the union’s latest offer by Thursday afternoon.

Lufthansa and the union are in a dispute over contract clauses related to cabin crew’s early retirement benefits. Negotiations broke down over the past weekend.

“We have negotiated with Lufthansa for two years,” said Nicoley Baublies, UFO’s head, adding that the union would announce which flights would be affected later.

Lufthansa is in dispute with different labor unions as the carrier struggles to cut operating costs to compete with budget airlines.

Since April 2014, Lufthansa’s pilots have walked out 13 times costing the company over 300 million euros (331 million U.S. dollars). Over 1,000 Lufthansa flights were canceled in September due to a pilots’ strike.
