A friend of mine who was always drunk and believing that life had been unfair to him, one day visited a witch doctor concerning his future. The witch doctor brought out two native pots, one white and the other black, and a millipede.

He told my friend that the millipede will determine his destiny. He asked him to watch, that if the millipede enters into the white pot he will have a bright future and if it enters the black pot his life will be miserable. So he set the pot apart and allowed the millipede to do its job. At first, the millipede started crawling towards the white pot but suddenly change its course towards the black pot. My friend became apprehensive, watching the millipede keenly.

As the millipede was about to enter into the pot, he hurriedly stood up, pick the millipede and threw it into the white pot and said he cannot be there and allow a millipede determine his destiny.

Your destiny is in your own hands. Take control. Our destiny is determined by the quality of choices or decisions we make. Destiny is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice.

I often wonder why so many people allow circumstances to determine their destiny. My question to you is: who or what is determining your destiny? Is it your bank account? Is it your job? Is it your business? Is it your relationships? Is it your marriage? Or is it the economy? Do not allow anybody or anything to determine your destiny. Take control of your destiny. It is in your hands.

Instead of sitting down pitying yourself, blaming your parents, blaming your school, blaming your teachers, blaming your job, blaming your business, blaming your relationships, blaming your marriage, blaming the government or the economy for your circumstances, I want you to go out and shake the world by the throat until you get what you want. The world is filled with people who started out with nothing and wound up with more than they ever dreamed.
